At Nurturinse, Melissa believes in people and their ability to create change in their outcomes. If clients are provided the knowledge base and equip with the tools, they can be empowered to reach their goals. Her approach is on the present and future and customized for each client and situation.
Melissa focuses is on individual growth, which lends itself to the development of healthy relationships, and ultimately allows families, businesses and communities to thrive. She encourages problem solving and decision making from within. Her “passion” is centered on creating confident leadership within systems. Her work continues in discovering ways for individuals to contribute to the success of those around them.
Professional Organizations include: AFCC (Association of Family and Conciliation Courts), APFM (Academy of Professional Family Mediators), IACP (International Academy of Collaborative Professionals), and NBCC (National Board of Certified Counselors), Athena International, and Athena Erie.
Melissa Sulkowski is a Professional Mediator and Relationship and Communication Specialist who has been working with individuals for over 26 years. She is Board Certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors and is licensed by the State of Pennsylvania as a Registered Nurse and Professional Counselor. Melissa is the owner of Nurturinse, a practice offering peaceful alternatives to healing and intentionally designed to promote health and well-being. Melissa has been in private practice for nearly 20 years. Prior to opening her own practice, she worked with children placed in Residential Treatment Facilities.
Melissa has attended multiple trainings on communication, relational dynamics, and conflict resolution skills. She offers Coaching, Consulting and Mediation services to local businesses with a focus on improving business practices, as well as facilitating collaborative efforts between businesses. In addition, Melissa has assisted hundreds of families experiencing conflict in successfully reaching agreements outside of a court process. She writes articles for the local newspaper sharing her thoughts and acquired knowledge.
Melissa is a founding member of the Collaborative Professionals of Northwest Pennsylvania (CPNWPA) and served as the President of her local Collaborative practice group. Collaborative Practice focuses on resolving both family and civil matters, with the support of a professional team, via roundtable discussion. Melissa serves as a consultant for other professionals in her industry and has presented at various International Forums and Mediation conferences. She currently serves as a Board Member for the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.
In February of 2014, Melissa was selected as a recipient of the Athena PowerLink award. Athena International is a program that recognizes potential in woman owned businesses and assists them in taking their business to the “next level”. In addition, the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals chose Melissa for their first “Leadership Academy” in 2013, a program designed to create leaders in the collaborative community.
In July of 2016, Melissa was selected as 1 of 15 Peacemaking Professionals between the United States and Canada. As a result, she is a founding member of Peacemaking Practice Trainers. Melissa was published in August of 2018 as an expert in her industry by the American Bar Association. She is a contributing author to a book that provides trained professionals with real-world tools to succeed in Collaborative Practice.
